I recently went searching for honey bees in the South San Juan Wilderness.
The meadow I searched in has an elevation of 9,150 feet.
My hiking buddies were thrilled to be part of this adventure.
I kept telling them, "find honey bees," but they insisted on searching for small mammals instead!
Although this dandelion-filled meadow was not "a-buzz" with honey bees, they were there. As a preservation honey bee steward who is hosting colonies at similar elevations, this was encouraging and important for me to see.
