We were recently camping in Valley of the Gods National Monument, Utah. You can see from the photos that this is the desert. Although, there had been a spring rain the night before.
I hiked one of the washes, similar to the one above, and discovered... honey bees. They were working the blooms on these:
And, as I was walking past this tree I could hear that it was absolutely full of honey bees. The video below is primarily for sound. Turn it up and listen to the background hum of thousands upon thousands of honey bees in this tree.
