Anton Jansa, the Royally Appointed Beekeeper of Austria

"Amongst all God’s beings there are none so hardworking and useful to man with so little attention needed for its keep as the bee."

The Slovenian beekeeping pioneer Anton Jansa, known as the father of modern day apiculture.

In 18th century Austria, he became a royally appointed beekeeper and was allowed to keep hives in the imperial gardens, where he would study their behavior and meticulously journal his findings.
